Celebrity Visitor No.3 David Beckham

September 24th, 2008

A big up to David Beckham who came in to the office yesterday, we are helping him build up a lettings portfolio for his boys, anyway we had a bit of laugh and ending up having a penalty shoot out in the car park. Unfortunately David slipped up on a rotten banana skin at sudden death and took out the chinese chef from the Taste of China.

Good luck with the twisted ankle David - hope you are back playing soon.

DBLC - Merchant House Hotel

September 19th, 2008

merchant-house-005.jpgmerchant-house-001.jpgmerchant-house-003.jpgmerchant-house-004.jpg

The DBLC met most recently at the recently opened Merchant House restaurant in Hertford - Tony Cicchirillo was King Bat for the day.

Now, this is my opinion, nice restauarant, very good food, good surroundings but front of house is non existant at lunchtime - hopefully there might be an improvement of the evening service.

Anyway an original  score of 8.58 was reduced to TOTAL OF 7.83 after deduction for NO DRINK ON THE HOUSE.

OVERALL : Very decent restaurant, good food, sort your front of house and staff out and you might have a winner, but no return visit for me at until this changes.

Newspaper Advertising

September 10th, 2008

I am writing this piece as one of the leading local advertisers in lettings.

My feelings are that traditional newspaper advertising is old fashioned and no longer cost effective. In the lettings market we receive limited response from newspapers and the quality of enquiries are not as good as those sourced from the internet.

I have long felt that agents would not need the newspapers in the future, with the impact of the current property market that time has come sooner.

At Anthony Davies we firmly believe that having high profile offices and excellent internet media outlets is enough to bring our properties to the market.

So, we will be pulling our local newspaper adverts for lettings in the near future. I would encourage any other local agents to do the same, after all we will make a significant reduction in our advertising budgets and will all be on a level playing field anyway !

These are my thoughts, if you agree or disagree please email me at richard@anthonydavies24.co.uk to let me know what your thoughts are on this matter.
